"I think you ought to know I'm very impressed," she said.

I bought roses. They were thorny, full-bodied, and their red bled into the night, giving the roses an aura that was emotional and powerful.
I bought streamers. Like my emotions for Carla, its reach extended beyond what I expected. It was inconsequential, for I needed the streamer to house - and express in words - my feelings for the lady.
I bought silk. Like the roses, they were red. However, it was a soft, tender red. The essence of the heart.
I bought a chicken chop set. I was hungry.

I turned, and came face-to-face with Alicia, an old crush from secondary school. "Oh hey you. Impressed with what?" I asked her, composed. My best friend tried to be salt, lost in the swirling, non-saturated water that is the chaotic acoustics of the mall.
"Guys shopping. I think it's cool."
I smiled. I studied Alicia, appreciating her. It was the first time I had seen the girl in two months, and she was as pretty and energetic as ever, her ponytail bouncing as she walked next to me. "Haha thank you," I said. "Hey, I'm here with my friend. He's waiting for me right now, so I better get going."
She smiled, radiating feminine charm. "Sure. Hey, do you still have my number?"
"Yeah, I do." We hugged, and I walked away to rejoin my best friend.
