Singularly Deplorable Politics

I'm not one to support any form of authority or regulation or discipline. I've always believed in allowing a person to fully explore the endless possibilities of life, and not be restricted in his or her experience of Life. I believe to control the lives of others, to determine for them what they can or cannot do, is very wrong. This entry, of course, is not about that. Anyway...

As you would probably have already guessed, I have strongly enamoured myself to authorities like a bouquet of flowers to an anti-gay movement. I gave teachers hell, I was a rebellious kid to my parents - all this not due to a heightened sense of mischief, but mainly from a subtle exertion of my view on authority.

Now, in the realm of Singapore politics, I am no different. The People Action's Party (PAP) - Singapore's ruling party - used to hold a tight grip on Singapore's media. It was something I objected to quite a lot in my mid-teens. Now, the PAP has churned out some rather positive policies in promoting freedom of speech, but my established anti-establishment attitude means Lee Kuan Yew jokes still come to my mind when I hear 'PAP'.

Still, I look out for opposition parties and their beliefs every now and then, and speculate alternative consequences of Singaporean history. I have yet to align myself with any political party (not much of a problem since I'm still too young to vote), but I have to say the PAP are brilliant at campaigning.

At the end of the spectrum is the Singapore Democratic Party (SDP). Focus on your policies and what you want to bring to Singapore, not elaborately prove how anti-PAP you are. You can never win a Singaporean election trying to blackmail PAP, because their success with the economy will overrule everything else.

Idiots, I tell you.
