The world is getting screwed up.
In this day and age, discipline is viewed as a leadership quality. Yam is an ice-cream flavour. Yam is not an ice-cream flavour. Yam ice-cream is shit that is dyed purple and made to look like an ice-cream. Really.
Similarly, discipline is not a leadership quality. It's a good quality in trained killers, soldiers and other people who'll be giving the poor nurses hell at their respective old folks' home. But I wouldn't voluntarily listen to a guy just because he can wake up at 5 every morning. If that were the case, roosters would make perfect leaders for mankind.
Eric Cantona's a leader, in my perspective. Charisma, confidence, courage - those are the marks of a true leader.
I think the problem is that we're unwittingly blurring the line between role model and leader. See, there's a huge difference between a role model and a leader. A role model is the kind of person your parents want you to become when you were a kid, but who you want to beat the shit out of, as you call them gay, when you grow up. A leader is the one who's not necessarily doing the right thing, but going at it with you, inspiring you to do more than you're supposed to. Anybody can order and tell others what to do. A well-educated babboon can. A leader inspires.
Man, these elections are totally fucking with my brains.
