2005's Top 10: Songs

If you were to make a top 10 list of 2005, what would the list, well, list? Looking at the news of the past year, it'd be terrorist attacks. Top 10 Most Gruesome Bombings of 2005. 10 Places I Should've Bombed in 2005. 10 Places That Wouldn't Be Bombed If American Had Better Sense During Presidential Elections. But let's not focus on the negative, shall we? I present to you my take on the Top 10s of 2005 in music, film and everything else positive in this world.

Top 10 Songs Of 2005
10) Late - Ben Folds (moving tribute to late singer/songwriter Elliot Smith)
9) Krafty - New Order (great song proving New Order aren't fuddy duddies...yet)
8) Precious - Depeche Mode (David Gahan's style may be getting boring as compared to the energy of more relevant frontmen/women, but the Depeche Mode sound is timeless)
7) To Love Somebody - Billy Corgan (a remake of the Bee Gees' hit, without the falsetto, yet retaining the emotion and longing of the original)
6) Beverly Hills - Weezer (the video's at the Playboy Mansion, and it features Hef and scores of half-naked chicks. What more can I say?)
5) Do You Want To - Franz Ferdinand (the Archduke might be long dead, but the band show they're very much alive and kicking with this single off their brilliant sophomore album, You Could Have It So Much Better)
4) Close Your Eyes - The Chemical Brothers featuring The Magic Numbers (the ugly but talented Chemical Brothers join forces with the uglier but talented Magic Numbers to produce an extremely beautiful track. One of the best musical collaborations ever)
3) I'm Feeling You - Michelle Branch, The Wreckers and Carlos Santana (Santana's formula of inviting clebrities to sing for him is definitely overused, but it still somehow manages to churn out a fresh sound with this track)
2) Twisted Transistor - Korn (nice song, but top that with a cool ass vid featuring Snoop Dogg, Xzibit, David Banner and Lil Jon playing the band and you get MTV's equivalent of an orgasm. Also watch out for Jon Davis at his most decent behaviour in a music vid)
1) Lyla - Oasis (I may be biased, cause we're talking about my favourite band ever, but you can't deny the audacious sweet fuck of a track that Lyla is)

You can refute all you want man, but whatever, I'll just question your taste and make fun of your mother. In my coming entry, I'll give my take on the top 10 films of 2005, and a chance for me to make you see your daddy in a different light.
