Here are the World Cup results as of 9am, 11th June 2006, Singaporean time:
Group A
Ecuador 2 - 0 Poland
(Carlos Tenorio 24 min)
(Agustin Delgado 80 min)
I didn't watch the match, so I can't report it here. Sleep is important, and a necessary bummer since watching certain matches live means staying up at 3 in the morning.
Group B
England 1 - 0 Paraguay
(Carlos Gamarra own goal 4 min)
I was thinking of reporting on every England game, being a fan of English football. But there are only so many different ways of saying "boring". And we didn't even get to see Crouch do the robot.
Sweden 0 - 0 Trinidad & Tobago
Larsson Schmlarsson. Ibrahimo-who? Shaka Hislop is the hero of the day as his heroic saves erm, save one point for the debutants.
Group D
Argentina 2 - 1 Ivory Coast
(ARG Hernan Crespo 24 min)
(ARG Javier Saviola 38 min)
(IVR Didier Drogba 82 min)
After the England - Paraguay game more worthy of chess, and the goalless draw between Sweden and Yorkeland, we finally see an exciting game where both sides simply exuded pure class. Argentina almost lost 2 of the 3 points they were hanging on to to a late surge by the Africans. They shouldn't do this kind of thing to a kooky-blood-pressure Diego Maradona in the crowds.
