Dumbass quote of the day: "Guys, what's brown and sticky?" "...a stick!"
Singaporean men, you guys know how our army seems to have its very own script to respond to certain situations? For example, if they fuck up, they'd say, "Errrrr........."
An overused line in that script would be, "Fuck you understand." It's the most flexible one, that's for sure. It can be used against questioning subordinates, against accusations, and, to an open-minded individual, in bed.
An example of something that'll get you a resounding 'fuck you understand'
Saying, "Fuck you understand" to someone implies of course, the vitriol in 'fuck you'. On top of that, it suggests at the receiving party's oblivion in 'understand'.
So do people who receive 'fuck you understand' really face difficulty in understanding 'fuck you'?
I conducted a social experiment to determine the accuracy of that statement. I tried saying, "Fuck you understand" to a test group of about 20 people, and see if their reactions prove that they do comprehend the term, "Fuck you understand."
And the result? 16/20 of the test subjects indicate a rather basic understanding of the term. They are able to understand that they are being insulted, or reprimanded. This is due to positive responses such as, "Man, what did I do?" or, "No, dude! Fuck YOU."
Here are examples of responses given by the test subjects (to protect their identity, their names are omitted):
Test Subject #05
Tester: A----, fuck you understand.
Subject: I understand that you wanna get beaten up.
Test Subject #13
Tester: Oi, fuck you understand.
Subject: Huh?
Tester: Understand?
Subject: What?
Tester: I said, fuck you.
Subject: Oh...
Tester: Understand?
Subject: Ya...
With all this in mind, I implore anybody who reads this to not use, "Fuck you understand," for 'fuck you' is a widely understood term here in Singapore. Just using, "Fuck you" should suffice.
With that, peace out, and God bless. Understand?
